The CNG Market Expansion of Tata Motor
In addition to technological developments, Tata Motors has increased the range of CNG vehicles it offers. This manufacturer has one of the largest lineups in the CNG market right now, with models like Punch, Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz. Notably, the CNG business has grown significantly; in FY24, there was a reported 40.5% rise over the previous fiscal year.
The 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, NA engine that powers the Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT produces 86 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. The automobile produces 95Nm and 73hp when running on CNG. The 5-speed AMT gearbox and “Creep” capability are included with the CNG variants. A manual transmission with five speeds is an additional option.
Tata asserts that the vehicle’s performance won’t change when it runs on compressed natural gas (CNG) and that the vehicle’s restart capability is the finest in its class and on par with that of gasoline. Additionally, Grassland Beige in Tiago NRG, Meteor Bronze in Tigor, and a new Tornado Blue hue in Tiago were released by the firm.
Compared to its rivals, the Tiago iCNG performs poorly with a mileage of about 26.49 km/kg. Given the notable disparity in mileage between the Tiago iCNG and other CNG hatchbacks such as the WagonR and the Celerio, Tata Motors should investigate this matter. The new Celerio CNG offers 35.60 km/kg, a 25ā40% increase over the 32.52 km/kg offered by the WagonR CNG!

Amit Kamat made the following statement regarding the launch: “CNG, known for its widespread availability and accessibility, has garnered considerable acceptance over the years.” With several industry firsts, including twin-cylinder technology (which helps provide no compromise trunk capacity), premium feature options, and direct start in CNG, Tata Motors has completely transformed the CNG market. We have sold over 1.3 lakh CNG cars in the last 24 months. We are now pleased to introduce India to its first AMT CNG cars with the launch of the TATA Tiago and TATA Tigor iCNG in AMT, as part of our ongoing efforts to increase volume and give our consumers the best.
Tata Motors, with the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, and Punch models, has the broadest range of CNG vehicles. As one of the top two brands in the CNG industry, we saw an astounding 67.9% increase in CNG sales in FY24 over the prior year. We are optimistic that the release of these Intelligent, Safe, and Powerful twins will increase demand for this fuel choice and, as a result, maintain our momentum for development in passenger cars.
