Family Star Review: Mrunal Thakur’s Family Drama in Vijay Deverakonda puts your Patience to the Test.

The Family Star, directed by Parasuram Petla, stars Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Deverakonda in the key parts. Our evaluation finds the romance drama to be inconsistent and dull.

Family Star Review: Many people were hoping that Vijay Deverakonda and filmmaker Parasuram Petla would replicate the magic of Geetha Govindam (2018) when it was revealed that they would be working together again. Family Star fails to leave an impression or even to amuse, but that movie had its share of problems. The Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Deverakonda flick will try your patience as it only gets worse as it goes along.

Family Star Review

Family Star story

There are many duties that fall on the shoulders of Govardhan Rao (Vijay). Despite being the youngest, he assumes responsibility for the family’s management despite having two older brothers (Raja Chembolu and Ravi Prakash) and a grandmother (Rohini Hattangadi). He is cautious with the family’s money and never stops talking about how many kashtalu (issues) he faces. He experiences multiple life changes when Indu (Mrunal) rents out a section of his house.

Vijay and Mrunal

The performances of Vijay and Mrunal are the only thing that Family Star has going for it. Has Vijay given us any greater performances? Yes. Nonetheless, he plays Govardhan with sincerity. He portrays the character’s quirks so brilliantly that you find yourself getting annoyed by them. In the rare poignant moments of the movie, where his character is let to experience hurt rather than just rage, he really shines.

Although Mrunal attempts her hardest and has a gorgeous appearance as Indu, her lip sync in the movie is so bad that it takes your attention away from what she is doing. At the conclusion, she delivers an impassioned monologue, but all you can see is how her lips move inconsistently with the words.

Family Star Review

Family Star’s narrative is so thin that it’s easily discernible, much like Govardhan’s early-film CGI dosas that he cooks for his nieces and nephews. However, even in its own universe, Parasuram’s picture defies reason, making it hard to watch all the way through. To make matters worse, Family Star nearly seems to have been created by someone who has no experience with middle-class lifestyle, which gives the entire endeavor a cartoonish aspect.
