The court has been asked by Arvind Kejriwal to order the authorities to give him “adequate treatment”. Arvind Kejriwal: “Am I going to risk becoming paralyzed?” disputes in court the ED’s “mango, sugar” accusation.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the attorney for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, denied on Friday the Enforcement Directorate’s allegation that his client purposefully raised his blood sugar levels by consuming sugar, aloo-poori, and mangoes. He testified in front of a national capital court that the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party had only ever had aloo-poori for Navratri prasad once and that he was replacing the sugar in his tea with artificial sweeteners. Arvind Kejriwal, according to Singhvi, would not risk paralysis in order to obtain bail.
“The only brand of fake sugar I use in my tea is sugar free. How absurd, ED can be, and how petty and political? These are malevolent and wholly untrue remarks. “You can publish that I’m eating aloo poori even though this meal was only sent once during puja because of your considerable media influence,” he told the court.
Arvind Kejriwal has filed a request for instructions from the Tihar Jail officials over the provision of insulin in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court.
On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate stated that Arvind Kejriwal had been trying to get the necessary paperwork ready for release.
“ED said I want to raise my blood sugar levels in order to be granted bail. Will I endanger my life to obtain bail? What I eat follows the diet plan my doctor created before I was arrested,” Singhvi stated in court.
“In February, a program to gradually remove insulin was initiated, involving close observation of Kejriwal’s food and all other aspects of his life. I carried doing this activity from February 1 till my arrest. After my arrest, it was not followed,” he said.
According to Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Arvind Kejriwal has elevated blood sugar. He said he hadn’t been receiving insulin from the prison doctor at Tihar.
It is claimed that I have been eating mangos. Mangoes were present in only three of the 48 lunches that were provided from home. Mangoes have not been sent since April 8. Mangoes have been manipulated to resemble sugar cubes. Compared to brown or white rice, they have a significantly lower sugar content (glycemic index),” Singhvi continued.
The court has been asked by Arvind Kejriwal to order the authorities to give him “adequate treatment”. “I am asking 15 minutes of video-conferencing consultation with my doctor daily and with his (Kejriwal) wife,” he stated.
Arvind Kejriwal Health:
According to Tihar’s attorney, Kejriwal was taking insulin when he was taken to the prison. He said that some time ago, he stopped taking it.
“The amount of blood sugar has remained constant. With the food that is being supplied from home, he is not adhering to the recommended diet. The attorney advised him to adhere to the diet plan.
He added that fruits like mangoes, bananas, and chiku should not be permitted for Arvind Kejriwal to eat.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of Delhi requested on Thursday night that the Director General (DG) of Prisons provide a “factual and comprehensive” report about the accusations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
“Shri VK Saxena has expressed grave concern over reports based on statements by ministers and AAP leaders alleging non provision of insulin to Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail, and purported conspiracies against him,” a statement issued by Raj Niwas stated.
Arvind Kejriwal asked the court on April 16 to see his usual physician because his blood sugar has been unstable.
According to the AAP, Kejriwal is the target of a complex plot that might lead to anything.
“If the rules of jail do not allow health-related information of an inmate to be shared with anyone, then why did the ED publicize a fake diet chart of Kejriwal in the media on Thursday,” asked Sanjay Singh, a member of the AAP.
